Records
How to log something that happened, including visits entered weeks after the fact.
A Record is something that happened, so it takes a date in the past or today.
A Record can carry Detail values, photos and files, so the vet visit and the weight taken at it stay together.
Records can be back-dated. A farrier visit entered three weeks late still sits on the day it happened.
Making one
A Record takes a title, a date, and as much or as little else as you have.
The same dialog makes Reminders, on its other tab, because the only real difference is which way the date points. A Record is something that happened, so its date is today or earlier. A Reminder is something coming, so its date is ahead.
A Record can carry Detail values as it is written. Recording the vet visit and the weight taken at it in one act is what keeps them together afterwards, and those values land in each Detail’s history dated to the visit, not to the day you typed them.
Photos and files on a Record
A Record carries its own photos, video and documents, separately from the ones on the Card.
The difference is what they are evidence of. A photo on the Card is what the thing looks like; a photo on a Record is what it looked like that day. An invoice, an x-ray, a soil test: attach it to the Record it belongs to and it stays with the event rather than floating in the Card’s gallery.
